Shirley Ann Traughber passed away December 3, 2015 as a result of emphysema at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community. Shirley was born April 7, 1935, daughter of the late Lon and Edna Williams. She grew up in Illinois and Knoxville, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee. Shirley has been a resident of Asheville since 1968. She was the proud parent of Jeffrey William Traughber of Lake Tahoe, NV and Todd Alan Traughber, who lives in the Asheville area. She is also survived by a brother, David Williams of the Knoxville area and two nephews, Tim and Randy Williams. She was formerly very active in community affairs, primarily with beautification and environmental projects, and also retired as a real estate broker. Shirley was an outdoor enthusiast, who loved gardening and golf. With a great appreciation for animals, she loved them all, especially dogs, cats, bears and deer. When it came to entertainment, she loved that too. On occasion, she would cook for dozens of people in a small "one butt kitchen" and the party always seemed to turn out well. She really enjoyed good food and drink. Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was one of a kind! A Celebration Of Life will be held in her honor and remembrances at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the St. Giles Chapel of Deerfield. Death: 9 October 2006, age 85, Aurora, Colorado.^904,909 At the time of his death, he was living in a retirement community in Aurora. The city of Aurora spans three counties, and the Social Security Death Index reports that his last residence was in Arapahoe County. However, it has not been possible to determine if he died at home or if he might have died somewhere else in Aurora that was in a different county. He had moved to the Denver area during his retirement at the request of his daughters.
