Ruby Belk Bryan, 83, of Athens, who was formerly of Charleston and a native of McMinn County, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in an Athens health care facility. She was a daughter of the late Grover and Myrtle Sherlin Belk. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, L.C. Bryan. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a former employee of IGA Grocery Store in Charleston, Bower Paper Co. Cafeteria and Guffey's Market in Athens. She taught school at Rocky Mt. School and Mouse Creek Elementary School. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Bryan of Riceville; one sister, Pauline Wilson of Athens; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Oran Creasman officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calhoun Cemetery for the graveside service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
