Leona Owens Cate, age 77, of East Dumplin Valley Road, Kodak, Tenn., widow of Mark W. Cate, passed away 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville following an extended illness. Preceded in death by daughter, Catherine Curtis; and grandsons, Jason Cate and Larry Cate. She was a member of Dumplin Baptist Church. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law Sue and Tom Bragg of Louisville, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. and Alice Ann Cate of New Market; grandchildren, Beth Bragg of Louisville, Mark Curtis of Gatlinburg, Bryan Cate of New Market; sisters, Mrs. Reva Jenkins of Knoxville, Mrs. Annette Long of Blaine, Tenn.; brothers Ralph and Guy Owens, both of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8:30 p.m. Monday at Dumplin Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Lonnie Longmire officiating. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the church prior to services. Interment graveside services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City.
