Amy Ruth Mynatt and Ernest Uburn Burkhart Marriage: 28 March 1904, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. They were married at the home of Rev. Baker. The family Bible was a wedding gift. My aunt, Billie Ernestine King Austin, has possession of the Bible, and she said when Grandma Burkhart died, relatives were taking turns taking her things. My aunt (Ernestine) got the Bible on her 1st cycle, and then a dish. (Melissa D. Morris)

Ernest Uburn Burkhart^16,497. Birth: 12 May 1883,. Death: 15 May 1934, age 51,. He died suddenly, probably of a heart attack. Burial: about 17 May 1934, Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. He was originally buried at a cemetery on Washington Pike, but later was moved to Lynnhurst Cemetery. He was an engineer at TVA.

Amy Louise Burkhart King says he had a heart defect, and there was nothing in that day that could be done about the defect. Said he was a frail but BEAUTIFUL child. (Melissa D. Morris)
1134	vi.	Clyde Mynatt Burkhart⁴⁹⁷. Birth: 30 June 1918,. Death: 7 September 1922, age 4,. Burial: about 9 September 1922, Lynnhurst Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. Amy Louise Burkhart King says that he had just had diphtheria, but they thought he was recovering well. He was riding a tricycle and playing, and just died. Apparently, his heart just gave out. As my grandmother told me this she was teary and remembered these 2 little brothers vividly!! She says “they were the cutest little boys and I often wondered what they would have grown up to be”. She said it was very hard on her mother to lose these little boys. They are also buried at Lynhurst cemetery near ARMB and EUB. (Melissa D. Morris)

1137	ix.	Billy Ray (Buddy) Burkhart⁴⁹⁷. Birth: 30 January 1928,. Death: 22 September 1951, age 23,. He died in the Korean War on 09/22/1951 at the age of 23. He was shot in the head while delivering hot food to the front lines. There is a picture of him in my grandmother's (Amy Louise Burkhart King) Bible that I have seen several times - and whoa boy, was he good looking! I find myself saddened every time I think of Buddy. My mom tells a story of Uncle Buddy sneeking her sips of his coffee and puffs of his cigar - she says he did this to get his big sister riled up! My grandmother says she remembers vividly the day the military representatives (I'll have to ask her what branch - I'm not sure) arrived to give the news. She lived across the street (in the house she lives in now on Francis Road) from her mother (Amy Ruth Mynatt Burkhart) and she saw the car. She said she went to her back porch and became so very ill because she knew what that car meant. (Melissa D. Morris)
