BARRACKMAN, FERNE L. Age 90, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006, in a local memory care facility from a long journey with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on November 11, 1915, in Clover Flats, Oregon, near Paisley, Oregon. Ferne was preceded in death by husband, Charles Barrackman. Her sister, Caralea Wells of Roseburg and a brother, Lynn Gray and wife of Lakeview, Oregon. Survive her. She is also survived by her four daughters, Joan "Rusty" Winchester of Rancho Cordova, California; Yvonne Gigstad and husband, Edwin; Ronella Hurley and husband, Jerry and Darlene Sconce, all of Roseburg. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Ferne lived in the Roseburg area since 1945. She worked as a waitress at Harris' and Rudy's Restaurants for 18 years and retired from Montgomery Wards after another 18 years. She was a lifetime member of the Roseburg Women's Bowling Association, and received the "Most Inspiration Bowler" in 1997-1998. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge. She loved working in her yard and keeping up on the grandkids activities. Her greatest achievement was earning her GED in March of 1988 at the age of 72. The family would like to thank Frieda Smith and all the wonderful and loving caregivers at Callahan Court, who provided her with a loving and safe environment over the past 4 years. They would also like to thank Douglas Home Care and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Douglas Home Care and Hospice Services. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006, at 2 p.m. within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Wilson's Chapel of the Roses is in charge of arrangements.
