Allen Ludwell Bryan, the son of Peter and Betty Hubbard Bryan, was probably born between Thomas (1785) and William (1793). Dr. G.S. Bryan of Amory, Miss., wrote:

Allen Bryan, who was my grandfather, in 1816 loaded his family and belongings onto a flat bottomed boat and floated down the French Broad and Tennessee Rivers to a point near Huntsville, Ala., where he tied up until land could be procured and a residence erected. On this house boat a son was born, Uncle Bennett Boggess Bryan. Before the beginning of the War of 1813, Allen Bryan had married Phoebe Boggess. They reared their family near Huntsville, Alabama.

In 1845 their son Peter Grantham Bryan moved to Aberdeen, Miss. He bought a lot at the first lot sale in Aberdeen. Soon after this, Allen Bryan died and his widow moved with her children to Aberdeen. In 1874 Uncle Bennett Bryan moved to Texas, where his family grew up. His descendents still live in Texas.

For more than one hundred years there has not been one hour when some descendent of Peter G. Bryan could not be found within the corporate limits of Aberdeen. There has not been a year during this time when some one of his descendants has not paid taxes in that city.

Boggess Notes

Giles Sanford Boggess, 1797-1881, Married Sarah Bryan, 1799-1875. They were married in 1819. He was the son of Bennett Boggess, 1765-1831 who married Vashti Hubbard, 1772-1834. Evidently Phoebe Boggess Bryan was the daughter of Bennett and the sister of Giles Sandford. Two of her sons bore their names. Probably Sarah Bryan Boggess and Vashti Hubbard Boggess were Bryan-related. Another son of Bennett and Vashti H. Boggess, Abijah Boggess, m. Susan Jardine.
