Mary Malissa was married the same day as her brother Dan married Kittie Bates. From Elizabeth Cate Manly: It was always fun to visit the Grubbs. I remember especially the delicious egg custard Aunt Lis made. When she died, Aunt Allie McFarland put a snowdrop in her hand. The entire family was "in foolish" over flowers. Aunt Lis did not marry as young as her sisters, and practically raised Uncle Felix, who she petted and called "Felie".
