Bryan and Rebecca A. Langford Bryan of Sevier County, Tennessee. W. Spenser Bryan was educated at Strawberry Plains Academy. He was reputed to be the best English scholar in East Tennessee. He was the first professor in charge of English at what later became Carson College, a forerunner of Carson-Newman College. This family went to Oklahoma. W.S. Bryan lived in Claremont, Okla; Was connected with Okla. Military Academy, and was a prominent educator. He was the oldest living alumnus of Carson-Newman College in the 1930's.
