2. John Bryan^3,4. Birth: about 1723,.³

He owned property in 1744 in Augusta County, Virginia.³ John purchased property with his father Cornelius in 1744 on Linville Creek, then Augusta County. This may indicate John was born in Ireland to be 21 in 1744 to purchase property with his father.

Residence: 17 March 1747, Rockingham County, Virginia.⁵ John Briant appd. overseer, with Robert Cravens, of the road from Craven's to the Indian Road.

Residence: 29 August 1751, Augusta County (now Rockingham County), Virginia.⁶ John Bryan, Cornelius Bryan, Thomas Bryan, Wm. Rinkens, added to tithables.

Residence: 1762, Rockingham County, Virginia.³ John & Cornelius Jr. conveyed to their brother Thomas 150 acres of the land jointly held by them as surviving joint tenants Jul 10, 1762.

He served on a jury in Augusta County (now Rockingham County), Virginia in 1768.⁷ Writ ad quad damnum on petition of John Hinton. Jury as follows: David Ralstone, Andrew Ewin, Henry Ewin, Benjamin Kinley, William Ewin, Jacob Copelin, Thomas Bryan, Michael Waren, Samuel Sampels, John Bryan, John Brown, Cornelius Brian. Signatures of all and George Skilleron (Skillem).

His will was probated on 28 February 1785 in Rockingham County, Virginia.³ "Rockingham County, VA Minute book, 1778-1792", by Constance & Louise Levinson, Pg 266, 28 Feb 1785 Court the Last Will & Testament of John Bryant, deceased, proved by James Web, Thomas Bryant, Sr. and Thomas Bryant, Jr. Executors Mary Bryan & John Bryan, 800 lbs bond - Bondsmen Ezekiel Harrison & Thomas Brient. Thomas Bryan Sr. was his brother. Thomas Bryan Jr. was his nephew. Mary Bryan and John Bryan were his children. Ezekiel Harrison was his son-in-law.

John owned in 1786 in Rockingham County, Virginia.³ 1786 Rockingham Co. Land Tax List John's property is divided 100 acres each, value 37.185 to Cornelius, John Jr., Morgan and William Bryant. (LDS #0029964 1782-1803) Cornelius, John Jr., Morgan, and William were his sons.
