He owned property in 1744 in Augusta County, Virginia.3 John purchased property with his father Cornelius in 1744 on Linville Creek, then Augusta County. This may indicate John was born in Ireland to be 21 in 1744 to purchase property with his father.

Thomas Bryan Sr. was his brother. Thomas Bryan Jr. was his nephew. Mary Bryan and John Bryan were his children. Ezekiel Harrison was his son-in-law.

John owned in 1786 in Rockingham County, Virginia.3 1786 Rockingham Co. Land Tax List John's property is divided 100 acres each, value 37.185 to Cornelius, John Jr., Morgan and William Bryant. (LDS #0029964 1782-1803) Cornelius, John Jr., Morgan, and William were his sons.

There was a law suit on 16 October 1802 in Rockingham County, Virginia.8 Oct. 16, 1802 - Bryan vs. Bible - Morgan's brother William complains that Lewis Bible in 1797 purchased from Morgan 50 acres & that Morgan became insane, and this suit is to set aside certain contracts of his. Jacob Lincoln deposes 16 Oct 1802 that he has known Morgan 30 years.
