60. Horton Cox⁴⁷ was born on 9 March 1845 in Greene County, Tennessee.⁴⁷ According to his death certificate, he was born in North Carolina.

He appeared in the census in 1850 in Greene County, Tennessee. Horton 5 m w TN.

He appeared in the census in 1860 in Bradley County, Tennessee. Horton 15 m w TN attended school.

Horton appeared in the census in 1870 in Cherokee County, North Carolina. He died on 30 October 1898 in Hamilton County, Tennessee.⁴⁷ During his lifetime Horton suffered fro arthritis that may have contributed to his death at the age of 53. (Sallie Cox)

On 14 Jan 1862 while a resident of Bradley County, Tennessee, Horton joined the Confederate Army and was a private in Company G, 36th Tennessee Infantry. He was 18 years old. Signed by J.H. Gillespie. Served 12 months.

He was a preacher and traveled back and forth between Tennessee and North Carolina preaching and conducting revivals. (Sallie Cox)

On 3/15/1890 he purchased land from J. W. Donahue for $125, again on 7/29/1890 for $40. Both purchases were in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

Horton Cox and Catherine El Frances (Kathryn) Ingram were married about 1865.⁴⁷

Catherine El Frances (Kathryn) Ingram⁴⁷ was born on 5 June 1846 in Georgia.⁴⁷ Her death certificate says that she was born in North Carolina.
