Henry appeared in the census in 1850 in Anderson County, Tennessee. 16th subdivision, Anderson County, Tennessee, 30 Aug 1850; p.11a, dwelling number 148, family number 148; Peters Henry 81 m w farmer PA; Milly 55 f w VA cannot R/W; Katherine 49 f w TN cannot R/W. He died between 1851 and 1859 in [Anderson County, Tennessee]. Henry's date of death is estimated from the fact that he appeared on the 1850 census but not on the 1860 census. Also, Henry's presumptive daughter Katherine was living with him in 1850, and Katherine was living in the household of Henry Peters Jr. in 1860. I have found no other records that could be used to pin down Henry's date of death more precisely. He does not appear in any tax records after 1850, but neither does he appear in any tax records for several years before 1850. It appears that he sold or otherwise disposed of all his land sometime before the 1850 census. (RGB) He was buried between 1851 and 1859 in Anderson County, Tennessee.4 The information about Henry having been buried in Anderson County was provided to me by Wallace Smith. I know of no primary source document that describes where Henry was buried. I do not know if Wallace had such a document, or if he was making an educated guess. But it does seem extremely likely that he was buried in Anderson County. Indeed, it seems extremely likely that he was buried in the Scarbrough Cemetery, but there is no known marker for him in the Scarbrough Cemetery or in any other cemetery. (RGB) The will of John Jacob Peters in Giles County, Virginia listed eight children. None of them were Tobias Peters or Henry Peters. It seems likely that Tobias and Henry were related to John Jacob Peters, but if so it is not apparent what they relationship might be. (RGB) Henry Peters Sr and Mary Wiatt were married on 15 September 1788 in Greenbrier County, Virginia.6 Mary Wiatt2 was born about 1769. Her birth date is estimated from the birth date of her husband. I have no direct evidence for her birth date. (RGB) She died about 1802 in [Anderson County, Tennessee]. Her date of death is estimated from the birth date of her last known child about 1801. There was a male age 05-09 living in the household in the 1830 census, but this male seems unlikely to have been Mary's child. I think it is more likely that this male was a grandson or other boarder. The family seems to have lived continuously in Anderson County from the time of their arrival in 1797 through Henry's death after 1850. Given that Mary had a child born in Tennessee after they arrived from Virginia, it seems extremely likely that Mary died in Anderson County. (RGB) Henry Peters Sr and Mary Wiatt had the following children:
