YADON DIES. Bayard Yadon, one of my favorite newspapermen, died Monday morning and I was hurt when I heard about it. As the News-Sentinel said, he was a pipe-smoking, philosophical person. I used to work with Yadon and he was sort of a philosopher. In a calm sort of way he would say funny things that would put me to roaring and he and I used to back off in corners and tell each other all the latest pokes we'd heard. Although I haven't seen him but two or three times in a couple of years, I know I'll miss him.

Bayard had a law degree, but he became a newspaperman instead of practicing law. During his WWI service, he wrote letters home to his sister that were so good that they were published in the newspaper. That gave him is start in the newspaper business. In addition to writing for the paper, he wrote poems and short stories. Newspaper Article:568 (from the files of Reta Harrell Weiss)
Bayard Yadon, on The News-Sentinel editorial staff, is a native of Grainger County, but moved to Claiborne County while quite young. He went to war in 1918, serving for a year overseas, and was mustered out in 1919. He then entered the purchasing department of the Standard Knitting Mills. He began his newspaper work in 1922 by joining The Sentinel. Four months later he went to the Middlesboro Daily News in Kentucky, where he became news editor. He returned two years later to become city editor of The New-Sentinel, which position, he held, when The News and The Sentinel combined. He has been with The News-Sentinel since that time. Yadon is married and has two children, Ada Louise, six, and Thelma Joyce, three. His wife was Miss Ella Peters of Anderson County. He lives at Ritta.
