Mrs. Mary Bradshaw, better known as "Granny Bradshaw" to her Deming friends passed away on Tuesday of last week. She was making her home at Santa Anna, Calif., at the time of her death with her daughter, Mrs. Anna Bean. Mrs. Bradshaw was nearing 104 years of age. We regret her passing. Deming Resident for 45 Years Dies in Calif.
Death came quietly to Mrs Mary Elizabeth Bradshaw on Jan. 21 as she was dressing to add another day to her 103 years of life.
Mrs. Bradshaw will be remembered by the many friends she had here. Five years ago a the age of 98 she moved to Santa Ana, Calif. to live with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Bean. While in Deming she lived with her daughter, the late Mrs. Lou McBride.
She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., on March 4, 1854. She came to Texas after losing both her parents at an early age, her mother at three and her father at six. The family that took he in bought a vast farm there.
Married in Cook County, Texas, to Presley Bradshaw, Mrs. Bradshaw became the mother of five children. She lived in Breckenridge, Texas for 50 years and in Deming for 45 years.
Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Annie Bean, Santa Ana, and Mrs. Emma Herren, El Paso, Texas, five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Blower Brothers Mortuary, Santa Ana, Jan 23. The Rev. Warren Cheatham, pastor of the Santa Ana Christ of Christ officiated. Interment was at the Fairhaven Memorial Park.
