Edward F. Scarborough, 95, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Knoxville, Tenn., to Horace Edward and Mintie (Peters) Scarborough. He married Olive M. Cummins Feb. 13, 1937, in Wood River. She died Nov. 28, 2005. He was an architectural engineer for Olin Engineering Department for 35 years, retiring Sept. 30, 1977. As an artist, his work included designing Olin’s Westerner Club and artist’s renderings for Olin’s Water Treatment Plant, the Olin Gun club and John Olin’s Memorial bust. After retirement, he also performed volunteer architectural and artistic work for Hunter Ministry’s “City Of Lights” in Texas and redesigned Son Life Church in Collinsville. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Toby and Phillip McCammon of Wildwood, Mo.; a son, Dennis Scarborough of Alton; eight grandchildren, Brian, Chris, Jason, Elizabeth and Jacob Scarborough and Heather, Amber and Jonathan McCammon; and a sister, Edna Stevens of East Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. The funeral service will be privately held by the family. Olive M. Scarborough, 91, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, Nov 28, 2005, at her home. She was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Terre Haute, Ind. She married Edward F. Scarborough on Feb. 13, 1937, in Wood River. He survives. She was a chronograph operator for Olin Corporation and an active member of numerous Bible study groups with friends and family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Toby and Phillip McCammon of Wildwood, Mo.; a son, Denny Scarborough of Alton; eight grandchildren, Brian, Chris, Jason, Elisabeth and Jacob Scarborough, and Heather, Amber and Jonathan McCammon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Revs. Monie Jackson, Scott Hurly and Lynn Jones. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be given to "Bibles for the World," Charles McNally in Hong Kong or CBN Ministries.
