Hazel Martha Harrington, 96, of the Claxton community, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1906, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Richard and Lula Jones Cross, both now deceased.

Mrs. Harrington was the oldest member of Valley View United Methodist Church in Claxton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Dock" Harrington in 1994; two sisters, Edith Harrington and Eula Duncum; two brothers, Earl Cross and Cecil Cross.

Mrs. Harrington is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Harrington of Claxton and by several nieces and nephews.

Agnes Watlington of Oak Ridge is considered a special friend.

Her family said she will be remembered by many friends.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. David Lord and the Rev. Pat Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow at Valley View United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 at the funeral home.
