Mrs. John Jones Passes Away on Thursday, May 14th

Mrs. John Calvin Jones of North Webb Avenue passed away at Cumberland Medical Center on May 14, 1959 at 2:30 P.M. She had been in ill health for several years, suffering from arthritis and suffering a fractured hip last June. She was much improved but suddenly became critically ill and was admitted to the hospital where she passed away.

Martha Ella Keith, daughter of Calvin Keith and Anna J. Cross Keith, was born in Anderson County, April 6, 1879. She was united in marriage to John Calvin Jones at Clarkrange, January 9, 1897. To that union four children were born, three sons and one daughter -- Orion Oscar, Elmer Stephen, Gippie Agnes, and Raymond Litton. Raymond Litton died in infancy. The others live in Crossville.

At an early age, she professed faith in Jesus Christ, that faith exemplified in her everyday life of kindness and patience as a wife, mother, and neighbor. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are two sons, Orion Oscar and Elmer Stephen, and one daughter, Gippie Agnes; two granddaughters, Brenda Sue and Mary Ann Jones.

Funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church, in Crossville, May 16, at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend W. E, Moore officiating. A program of organ music of favorite selections was rendered by Mrs. Noble Thurman.

She was laid to rest in City Cemetery by her late husband, John Calvin Jones, who passed away in November 1955.

Burial: Crossville City Cemetery, Crossville, Cumberland County, Tennessee. Her name was listed in the 1880 census as Martha Keith. Her name was listed in the 1888 Anderson County, Tennessee lawsuit Elijah Cross et.al. vs. Joseph Cross et.al. as Mary E.J. Keith.
