Obituary: Moore, Tom W. - age 89, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Moore was a US Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a retired trim carpenter, avid gardener, and a wonderful and loving husband and father. Mr. Moore was a faithful and longtime member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Hattie Harrison Moore; brothers, Ester, Jim, and Henry; sisters, Pauline and Mary. Mr. Moore is survived by his loving family, devoted wife, Mabel; close daughter and very helpful son-in-law, Vivian (Smith) and Tim Duncan; grandchildren , Darlene and Shawn Austin and Dorinda Smith; great granddaughter , Kelsey Austin; special brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mabel; sisters Becky Wilkerson, Ercie Fox, Lydia Moore, Maude Grizzle and Ruth Odum; brothers Foch and Frank; longtime friend and brother-in-law, Tip Grizzle; and a host of friends and other relatives. Mr. Moore is at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, where the family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Beech Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry McBee and Rev. Freddie Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
