There is a bit of a puzzle because Adam Clark Peters Sr. was living in Oklahoma, but he has a death certificate from Morgan County, Tennessee. He must have returned to Tennessee shortly before his death.

Obituary:
Rev. Adam Clark Peters, commonly called Clark Peters, whose death at Burrville on May the 31st has already been announced, was a preacher in the M. E. Church during almost all his life. A large part of the older generation of people in the counties of Morgan, Roane, Rhea, Bledsoe, Cumberland, Fentress and Scott, knew Clark Peters. He was an old fashioned circuit rider and such trips as to leave home early in the morning, preach at Bledsoe, stand at 11 o'clock, go to Crossville and preach at night. The next day ride on to Pikeville and preach at Stoney Point on his way was common with him. There is scarcely a schoolhouse or church in the above named counties where he did not at some time preach. The old people remember it and often tell of what big meetings they had and some things that Clark Peters said. He went where they wanted to hear the gospel and they heard and received it gladly. His first work after joining the conference in 1872 was on the Crossville Circuit, which included a large territory round about. The first year there were 110 conversions on his work and he received $110 compensation. While on this work he went to the home of Wash Brown of Cumberland County, one cold evening and went out and helped young Sam bring in wood and make a fire in the old fire place, which was no small job; this caught the young fellow and Sam Brown, now Judge Brown of Athens, Tenn., had always loved Clark Peters. One of his themes was the beauty and joy of a full heart compared with the blighting effects of sin, he had friends by the thousands among all the people regardless of church or political affiliations and in the vigor of his life he did more traveling and preaching than two or three preachers do now. It was principally through his efforts that a splendid church building was erected at Burrville several years ago and the large and substantial building of' the A. B. Wright Institute at Burrville stands as a monument of his energy and industry in traveling and securing contributions to assist in the erection of the same. Adam was buried on 1 June 1917 in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Burrville, Morgan County, Tennessee.63 Tombstone: Husband of Nina.

Rev. Adam Clark (Clark) Peters and Mary Rebecca Jett were married about 1873 in [Morgan County, Tennessee]. It is a guess that they were married in Morgan County and that they were married about 1873. Both families were living in Morgan County in 1870 and also in 1880, and their first child was born in 1875. However, there is no Morgan County courthouse record for their marriage, and there are other Morgan County marriage records that are extant for the same time period. There is not a courthouse marriage record for them in any other Tennessee county, so the simplest explanation is that they were married in Morgan County and that their courthouse marriage record has been lost.

Mary Rebecca Jett6, daughter of Thomas H Jett and Rebecca Tillery, was born about 1849 in Tennessee.

She appeared in the census in 1880 in Morgan County, Tennessee. Mary R. 31 wife f m w keeping house TN VA TN.

She died after 1880 at the age of 31.

Adam Clark Peters Jr6,64 was born in January 1881 in [Burrville, Morgan County], Tennessee. Some researchers list his birth date as 1869. However, he was not listed with the family in the 1880 census. Also, I think he would have been much too old to have been a WWI soldier if he was really born in 1869. Hence, I think he must have been born after 1880, perhaps in 1889 or 1899. On the other hand, he was not listed with the family in the 1900 census. Also, I list his mother as Mary R. Jett, but I am by no means which wife of Adam Clark (Clark) Peters Sr. was the mother of Adam Clark Peters Jr. (RGB) He appeared in the census in 1900 in Shoshone County, Idaho. Rev. Adam Clark (Clark) Peters and Nina Wright were married about 1881 in [Fentress County, Tennessee]. It is a guess that they were married in Fentress County and that they were married about 1881. Nina was from Fentress County and a courthouse fire destroyed all Fentress County marriage records from this time perios. Adam Clark (Clark) Peters was still married to his first wife Mary Rebecca Jett at the time of the 1880 census, and Nina's first child was born about 1883.

Nina Wright6,16 was born in June 1851 in Tennessee.
