Col. James Hubbard was a colleague of my fifth great grandfather Peter Bryan. In addition, Peter Bryan's wife was my fifth great grandmother Betty Hubbard. It seems likely that Betty Hubbard and James Hubbard were related. Perhaps they were cousins, although neither the parents of Betty Hubbard nor of James Hubbard are known. Betty Hubbard who married Peter Bryan definitely was not the daughter of James Hubbard. James Hubbard did have a daughter named Elizabeth (Betty) Hubbard, but she married Allen S. Bryan Sr., who was the brother of Peter Bryan.
I do not know the exact location of these land grants. However, Greene County was a mother county of Jefferson County and Sevier County. Some of the Greene County grants were probably in modern day Jefferson County or Sevier County.
The land grants were in North Carolina, but in that part of North Carolina which is now Tennessee.
