Herbert Ferguson (Bert) Gibbs age 21 married Eula E. Hopkins in about 1911, probably in California.  Eula was the daughter of William A. (Fred) Hopkins and Eliza Lydia Bryan.  Eliza was the daughter of my third great grandparents Peter Hubbard Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, Eliza was the sister of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.

Herbert Ferguson Gibbs was the son of Anna Belle Ferguson and her first husband H. L. Gibbs.  It seems extremely likely that H. L. Gibbs was Herbert L. Gibbs, but I have not yet been able to prove it.  I assume that H. L. Gibbs died in the 1890's because Anna Belle Ferguson married second Ollie O'Farrell about 1898.

The grandparents of Herbert Ferguson Gibbs were John Malcom Ferguson age 64 and Sarah Jane McNutt age 63.

Eliza Lydia Bryan age 49 was the daughter of my third great grandparents Peter Hubbard Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, Eliza was the sister of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.

Elizabeth Cate Manly's book about the Bryan family listed Eliza's husband as Fred Hopkins.  I currently list his name as William A. (Fred) Hopkins, but I have found no other reference to his given name as "Fred" than ECM's book.  For example, the couple was married in 1887 in Sevier County, Tennessee, and the marriage book lists their names as William A. Hopkins and Eliza J. Bryan.  In any case, Fred Hopkins or William A. Hopkins appears to have died after the 1900 census and before the 1910 census.
