The George W. Evans family started out in Sevier County, but the family is of more interest for my Anderson County research than for my Sevier County research.  They moved to Georgia for a numbers of years, and then moved to Anderson County, Tennessee.  Two of George's daughters married into my Peters family in Anderson County.

A big mystery is that Elizabeth Evans who married Charles Nelson Peters was born about 1850 and was apparently the daughter of George W. Evans and Susannah.  However, Elizabeth does not appear in this census entry.  Perhaps Nancy E. Evans age 8 was Nancy Elizabeth Evans and therefore was the missing Elizabeth Evans.
