James Charles Messamore was the son of John Messamore and Elizabeth (Betsy) Minton.  As such, James was the nephew of my third great grandmother Anna F. Messamore.  It's curious that both of James' parents were listed as having been born in North Carolina, because they almost certainly were both born in Virginia.

James' wife was Luvinia Hagler.

Martha Stafford was the second wife of John Messamore, and in the 1900 census she was his widow.  John Messamore was the brother of my third great grandmother Anna F. Messamore.

Enoch Hock's wife was Fannie Stauffer, and Fannie was Martha's sister.  Hence, Martha was Enoch's sister-in-law.  The original spelling was Stauffer, but there are some later records with the spelling as Stafford.
