Martha M. Key age 22 married first Warren J. Hyden in Blount County, married second William Cole in Knox County, and married third Joseph Yarnell in Knox County. There is considerable evidence that suggests that Martha's second husband William Cole was the first cousin of my second great grandfather William Cole. One piece of such evidence is that there was some land in Knox County that was purchased by Martha and that apparently was inhabited by my William Cole for a while. Martha M. Key was the daughter of David Key and Nancy Bright. |

I do not know who this William Peters was, nor if he was connected to my own Peters family of Anderson County, Tennessee. There do not seem to be any clues as to his background in any of the neighboring families in the 1850 census. |

William Arthur Roddy age 1 married Charlotte J. (Sharlley or Lottie) Shannon in 1889. It was the second marriage for both of them. William's first wife was Martha Elizabeth (Elizabeth) Thomas. Charlotte's first husband was Thomas J. (Tom) Peters, son of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby Smith. As such, Tom was the brother of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters. William was the son of Samuel Roddy and Lucinda Davis. |
