1930 Census, Jefferson County, Tennessee

Harley T. Nichols age 28 was the son Franklin Wesley (Frank) Nichols and Cora M. Corbett and the grandson of my second great grandparents John H. B. Nichols and Martha P. Reneau.  As such, Frank was the brother of my great grandmother Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols, and Harley was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Reba Schrader age 28 was the daughter of James H. Schrader and Mary Hall.  Reba and Harley were married on 10 Feb 1923 in Roane County.

I do not know how Reba was related to John T. Schrader age 69.  Reba's paternal grandfather was George W. Schrader.  Perhaps John and George were brothers.

I do not know how Mary Rankin age 16 fits into the family.

No age was given for James H. Nichols.  I have not yet been able to find any other record for his birth date.

(Note James is first listed as a grandson.  Then, the "grand" is crossed out to list him correctly as a son.  Evelyn and the baby are listed on the next page of the census.  They are listed as granddaughters, and the "grand" is not crossed out for them.  However, I'm confident that the "grand" should have been crossed out for them as well and that they were daughters rather than granddaughters.)

James A. Moore age 4 3/12 married first a woman named Gladys (I haven't yet figured out her surname), and James married second Mabel Opal Miller.  It was also Mabel's second marriage, as she had married first Clyde Edgar (Edgar) Kyte.  Mabel was the daughter of Lloyd E. Miller and Mildred Frances Cox, and the granddaughter of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Ann Slaton.

Uncle John Cox was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Aunt Mary Cox was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Aunt Mary was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

James A. Moore was the son of Mitchel W. Moore age 34 and May W. Morgan age 32.

Dorothy Jane Hart age 4 married William Ernest (Bill) Slaton on 19 Oct 1945 in Rossville, Walker County, Georgia.  Bill Slaton was the son of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox.

Uncle Port Slaton was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Uncle Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Minnie Ann Cox was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Aunt Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Dorothy was the daughter of Benjamin Marshall Hart age 43 and Frances Ellen Moore age 33.

Bernice G. Brown age 10 married Ray Breeden on 21 Sep 1940 in Jefferson County.  Ruby Mae Brown age 9 married Turner Clark Breeden on 20 Jul 1940 in Jefferson County.  Ray and Turner Clark were brothers, the sons of Harvey Lee Breeden and Lula Templin, the grandsons of John Templin and Emma Ella (Ella) Cox, and the great grandsons of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, Ella was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, Lula was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Ray was the second cousin of my father.

Bernice and Ruby were the daughters John H. Brown age 35 and Bertie Solomon.  Bertie died on 1 Sep 1924 in Jefferson City.

Blanche Naomi Brown age 8 married Turner Clark Breeden on 7 Apr 1990 in Jefferson County.  It was the second marriage for both.  Turner was the son of Harvey Lee Breeden and Lula Templin, the grandson of John Templin and Emma Ella (Ella) Cox, and the great grandson of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, Ella was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, Lula was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Turner was the second cousin of my father.

Blanche was the daughter of Arthur Brown age 36 and Ruth Newman age 31.

Edgar C. Kyte age 2 later married Mabel Opal Miller.  Mabel was the daughter of Lloyd Miller and Mildred Frances Cox, and the granddaughter of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Ann Slaton.

Uncle John Cox was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Aunt Mary Cox was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Aunt Mary was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Lula Templin age 34 was the daughter of John Templin and Emma Ella (Ella) Cox, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, Ella was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox and Lula was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Lula married Harvey Lee Breeden age 38 on 27 Apr 1913 in Jefferson County.  Harvey was the son of Joseph Breeden and Martha Rimmer.

Emma Ella (Ella) Cox was the daughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, Ella was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.

John H. Breeden was Ella's third husband.  John was Ella's first wife.  I haven't yet figured out who John's parents were, except that his mother's given name was Martha.

James Harmon Cox was the son of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.  James Harmon Cox's wife Ola Maud Cline died in 1915.

Also, James Harmon Cox was the father of Robert Elmer (Elmer) Cox who married Lydia Ethel (Ethel) Bryan.  Ethel Bryan was the sister of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.  Elmer and Ethel raised my father for several years after my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox died.

I don't think I ever met Harold (age 18 in 1930), but I can remember him being mentioned in conversation.

Jessie Pearl Cox was the daughter of William Nelson Cox and Mary Ella (Ella) Cline.  William Arnold (Will) Shrader was the son of Samuel B. Shrader and Mary Kincannon.  Jessie's sister Grace A. (Gracie) Cox married Will's brother Henry C. Shrader.

William Nelson Cox was the brother of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.  As such, Jessie Cox was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Mildred Frances Cox age 22 was the daughter of John Franklin Anderson Cox and Mary Jane Slaton.  Mildred married Lloyd E. Miller age 24 on 10 Aug 1924 in Jefferson County.

Uncle John was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Mildred was my father's first cousin.

Aunt Mary was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Jane Moore, and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  As such, Aunt Mary was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and the first cousin of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison.

John Franklin Cox was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Mary Jane Slaton was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Aunt Mary was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.  The birthplaces of Mary's parents are reversed.  Her census entry should read TN NC TN.

Samuel Rickard was the brother of Stella Rickard who married Frank Bryan.  Frank was the nephew of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

Roy Lee Cox was the son of William Nelson Cox and Mary Ella (Ella) Cline.  His wife was Obie Lillian (Lillian) Howell.

William Nelson Cox was the brother of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.  So Roy was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

William Nelson Cox was the son of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.  Mary Ella (Ella) Cline was the daughter of Erasmus H. (Rasmus) Cline and Julia E. Gass.  William's brother James Harmon Cox married Ella's sister Ola Maud Cline.

William and Ella had two sons and two daughters.  The daughters Jessie Pearl Cox and Grace A. (Gracie) Cox married the brothers Will Shrader and Henry C. Shrader, respectively.  I believe that Louise and Terre Shrader were children of Will and Jesse Pearl.

Lelia Pearl Cox was the daughter of James Harmon Cox and Ola Maud Cline.  As such, Lelia was the niece of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.

Claude Eugene Rimmer was married twice.  The census is incorrect in that his first marriage was not at age 32 to Lelia Cox.  Rather, his first marriage was at age 26 to Lelia's sister Flora B. Cox, and his second marriage was at age 32 to Lelia.  Vera and Curtis were Flora's children.  James William, Blanche, and Roy were Lelia's children.

Claude Eugene Rimmer was the son of William Rimmer and Mary Elizabeth Hart, and the grandson of Floyd Hart and Mary Ann Slaton.  Mary Ann Slaton was the sister of my third great grandfather Thomas Fielden (Tom) Slaton.

John David Harrison was the son of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison who married William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

John David Harrison's wife was Lillie May Moore, daughter of Samuel Walker (Walker) Moore and Laura Isadora Webster.  John David Harrison's sister Harriet S. (Hattie) Harrison married Lillie May Moore's brother John Robert Moore.  So the respective children were double first cousins.

Laura Susan Harrison was no doubt named for her grandmothers Laura Isadora Webster and Susan A. Slaton.

Alma Gertrude Slaton age 20 was the daughter of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox.  Alma's husband was Arville Randolph Ailey age 19, and her first son was Robert Earl Ailey age 4/12.  Arville was the son of Henry Houston Ailey and Mary Melvina (Melvina) Carey.

Uncle Port Slaton was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Uncle Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Minnie Ann Cox was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Aunt Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols were my great grandparents.  George was the son of John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  Rett was the daughter of John H. Nichols and Martha P. Reneau.  Although this census entry says that Rett was first married at the age of 18, she in fact was first married at the age of 12.  She and George were step-sister and step-brother at the time of their marriage.

Silas Amberson Bryan was the son of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  Amanda Melzina (Mandy) Slaton was the daughter of Frances Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, she was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Sarah Frances (Sallie) Slaton was the daughter of Frances Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  I do not know the exact date of her marriage to Wiley Porter Ingle, but this census entry suggests that it was about 1910, and that Francis was their first child.  Frank Slaton was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton who married my second great grandfather Joseph Harrison.

Sallie's birth places should be listed as TN NC TN because Frank Slaton was born in North Carolina.

Minnie Ann Cox was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols.  As such, Aunt Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton age 45 was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Uncle Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

This census entry suggests that Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton was born in Virginia.  However, I think that Frank Slaton was born in North Carolina.  There is conflicting evidence in this regard.  In any case, before moving to East Tennessee the Slatons lived very close the Virginia and North Carolina state line.  Early records for my Slaton family are therefore found in both states.

I have the youngest son listed as William Ernest (Bill) Slaton.  I was not aware that Bill Slaton was ever known as Ernest.

Ethel Mae Denton age 8 married Curtis Foch Rimmer on 13 Jun 1943 in Jefferson County.  Curtis was the son of Claude Eugene Rimmer and Flora B. Cox, the grandson of James Harmon Cox and Ola Maud Cline, and the great grandson of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, James was the brother of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, Flora was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Curtis was the second cousin of my father.

Ethel was the daughter of Worley Denton age 33 and Mary Martin age 36.

Rebecca Frances (Cricket) Slaton was the third wife of William A. Allen.  Cricket was the daughter of William P. Slaton and Rachel Swann, and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  As such, Cricket was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Mary Eunice (Eunice) Allen was the daughter of William A. Allen and Lydia Catherine Harrison.  As such, Eunice was the niece of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison and the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.  Eunice's father and stepmother were living three houses away (see dwelling number 3 above).

Robert Harrison Ellis was also a relative, although a distant one.  He was the son of James C. Ellis and Nellie E. Burchfiel.  As such, Robert Ellis was the second great grandson of my fourth great grandparents Robert (Bobby) Burchfiel and Anna Evalista Malcom.

Minnie Ruth (Ruth) Morie age 16 married George Lee Bryan Sr.   George was the son of Silas Amberson Bryan and Amanda Melzina (Mandy) Slaton.  Uncle Silas was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  Aunt Mandy was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Ruth Morie was the daughter of Charles Alfred (Charlie) Morie and Martha Elizabeth Henderson.

Artie May Solomon was the daughter of John Wesley Solomon and Rhoda Rebecca (Becky) Harrison.  Becky Harrison was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  So Artie Solomon was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Earnest Bryan (Bryan) Morie was the son of Isaac Andrew (Andy) Morie and Dorthula V. Linzy.

Martha Paralee (Paralee or Parlee) Slaton was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Ann Moore.  As such, she was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Claude and Parlee had a child Mary Ruth McSpadden b. 1911 d. 1913, and who therefore never appeared in any census.

Eva Jane Free was the daughter of Joseph Haskel (Haskel) Free and Rebecca Slaton.  Rebecca was the daughter of Frances Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Rebecca was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Rhoda Rebecca (Becky) Harrison was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison who married my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

John Wesley Solomon was the son of J. W. Solomon and Sarah C., and the grandson of Sterling Solomon and Nancy J. Hickey.

Mary Ellen Fry age 16 married George Alger Francis (Alger) Slaton on 25 Apr 1936 in Jefferson County.  Alger was the son of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox.

Aunt Minnie was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols.  As such, Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Uncle Port was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Mary Ellen Fry was the daughter of Mack Buford Fry age 47 and Molly Josie McSpadden age 49.

Hassie Pauline (Pauline) Moore was the daughter of John Robert (J. Robert) Moore and Harriet Sophronia (Hattie) Harrison.  Aunt Hattie was the sister of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison.

Pauline's husband was Gaston (Boss) Chambers, son of Henry Clay Chambers.

Nanna Belle (Nannie) Reneau age 9 married Ralph Porter Slaton on 13 Oct 1940 in Jefferson County.  Ralph was the son of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox, and the grandson of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Ralph was the nephew of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Uncle Port Slaton was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Uncle Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Nannie Reneau was the daughter of William R. Reneau age 42 and Ida L. Denton age 41.

Roy Granville Edwards later married Vera Marion Rimmer.  Vera was the daughter of Claude Eugene Rimmer and Flora B. Cox.  Flora was the niece of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox and the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Roy Granville Edwards was the son of George Fleetis (Fleet) Edwards and Inez Frances Moree.  Roy's first wife was Lola Demarcus.  He married Vera Marion Rimmer in 1940.

Charles Taft (Taft) White age 19 later married Lorene Shrader.  Lorene was the daughter of Henry C. Shrader and Grace A. (Gracie) Cox.  Gracie was the niece of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.

Georgia Leona (Leona) Owens age 10 married Mark Walker Cate, son of Peter Walker (Walker) Cate and Lena Vesta (Vestie) Bryan.  Aunt Vestie was the sister of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  Walker Cate was the third great grandson of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary, and also the third great grandson of my fifth great grandparents William P. Cate and Mary Enyard.

Leona Owens was the daughter of Robert H. Owens and Clemma May Cate Carter.  I do not know if Clemma May Cate Carter had Cate ancestors or not.

I distantly share Underwood and Cate ancestors with Zema Elder.  But I really ran into this family because Robert Hardin (Hardin) Atchley was the brother of Maud I. Atchley who married Elmer Otto Bryan.  Uncle Elmer was the son of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  So Hardin Atchley was Uncle Elmer's brother-in-law.

Lola Helen Bryan was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

John Amos (Amos) Underwood was married twice.  His first wife was Clauda Lee Bryan, who was the first cousin of Lola Helen Bryan.  Clauda died in 1919, and Amos Underwood married Lola Bryan in 1921.  All the children in this census entry were the children of Amos Underwood and Lola Bryan.  Amos Underwood and Clauda Bryan had five children, of whom three were still living at the time of the 1930 census.  I have not yet identified where they were living in 1930.

John Amos (Amos) Underwood was the son of Rufus White Underwood and Sarah Pollard, and the grandson of John (Monkey John) Underwood and Ellen Henry.  Monkey John Underwood was the brother of my third great grandfather William Ramey Underwood.

Harriet Sophronia (Hattie) Harrison age 43 was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison who married William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  So all of Aunt Hattie's children were the first cousins of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.  Aunt Hattie's birth places were incorrect, and should have been listed as TN VA NC.

Aunt Hattie's husband John Robert Moore age 51 (known as J. R. Moore or J. Robert Moore) was the son of Samuel Walker (Walker) Moore and Laura Isadora Webster.

James W. (Jim) Moore was married at the time of the 1930 census. His first wife was Edna Miller, and they were married on 25 Dec 1929.  Jim was listed as married in the 1930 census, but I don't know why they were not living together as husband and wife in 1930.  I cannot find Edna anywhere in the 1930 census, neither with the surname Miller nor with the surname Moore.  Perhaps she was living with Jim in the home of Jim's parents, but was omitted from the census in error. Jim married a second time but it was many years later, in 1948.

Hazel Allen age 15 married Lynn Nathaniel Blackburn Sr. on 22 Dec 1933 in Knox County.  Lynn married second Dorothy Gladys (Dot) Cox on 1 May 1944.  Dot was the daughter of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Jane Slaton, and the granddaughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Dot was my father's first cousin.  In addition, Mary Jane Slaton was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore, and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden (Tom) Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  As such, Frank was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and Aunt Mary was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Hazel was the daughter of John Clifford (Clifford) Allen age 36 and Bessie Kate Godwin age 32.  Clifford and Bessie were married 10 May 1912 in Jefferson County.  Hazel married second a Mr. Smith, but I have not yet found Mr. Smith's full name nor the date of their marriage.

Juanita Swan age 16 married Franklin Wesley (Frank) Nichols on 13 Jun 1936 in Hamblen County.  Frank was the son of my second great grandparents John H. B. Nichols and Martha P. Reneau.  As such, Frank was the brother of my great grandmother Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.

Juanita was the daughter of Walter B. Swan age 44 and Georgia A. Denton age 42.  Walter and Georgia were married on 4 Jul 1909 in Jefferson County.

Samuel H. Slaton was the son of William J. Slaton and Priscilla Emeline (Emeline) Sellers.  As such, he was the nephew of my third great grandfather Thomas Fielden Slaton, and the first cousin of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Samuel's daughter Mattie married Cleophus Burchfiel in 1922.  There are instances of both the Burchfield spelling and the Burchfiel spelling in Jefferson County, but I believe Burchfiel was correct for Cleophus, notwithstanding the way it was spelled in this census entry.

Rachel Swann was the widow of William P. Slaton.  William P. Slaton was the son of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  Bessie was their daughter Martha Elizabeth (Bessie) Slaton.

"Mrs. Horace McCampbell" was Minerva M. Bryan.  Minerva was the daughter of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, Minerva was the sister of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.  In addition to three unmarried children living with her in dwelling number 5, Minerva was the mother of Walter McCampbell living next door in dwelling number 6.

Walter's wife was Ollie C. Free, daughter of Joseph Haskel (Haskel) Free and Rebecca Slaton.  Rebecca was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Rebecca was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Floyd Reed (Reed) Bull Jr. age 6 married Mary Loretta (Loretta) Slaton in 1943.  Loretta was the daughter of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox.

Uncle Port was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Uncle Port was the nephew of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Aunt Minnie was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Aunt Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Reed Bull Jr. was the son of Floyd Reed (Reed) Bull Sr. age 31 and Maggie Gaddis age 31.

Harvey Cecil (Cecil) Edmonds age 16 married Alberta Estiline Breeden on 7 Apr 1939.  Alberta was the daughter of Gilbert Breeden and Mae Pearl Rimmer, the granddaughter of Joseph E. (Joe) Rimmer and Emma Ella (Ella) Cox, and the great granddaughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce.  As such, Ella was the sister my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, Mae was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Alberta was the second cousin of my father.

Cecil was the son of Harvey L. Edmonds age 59 and Ammar I. Love age 49.  I'm quite certain I do not have Ammar's name transcribed correctly except that the first letter is "I".  The handwriting is poor, and it is very difficult to read.

Paul N. Stallings age 9 later married Reta Ray Underwood.  Reta was the daughter of John Amos (Amos) Underwood and Lola Helen Bryan.

John Amos (Amos) Underwood was married twice.  His first wife was Clauda Lee Bryan, who was the first cousin of Lola Helen Bryan.  Clauda died in 1919, and Amos Underwood married Lola Bryan in 1921.  John Amos (Amos) Underwood was the son of Rufus White Underwood and Sarah Pollard, and the grandson of John (Monkey John) Underwood and Ellen Henry.  Monkey John Underwood was the brother of my third great grandfather William Ramey Underwood.

Lola Helen Bryan was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

Paul N. Stallings was the son of Mack Alexander Stallings age 32 and Sallie M. Koontz age 28.

Effie Walker age 4 4/12 married William Vern (Vern) Cox on 6 Aug 1944.  Vern was the son of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Jane Slaton.

Uncle John Cox was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols.  As such, Uncle John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Aunt Mary Cox was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore.  As such, Aunt Mary was the niece of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton.

Daisy Mae Nichols was the daughter of Robert Russell Wyatt Nichols and Sarah Louisa Ida (Ida) McAndrew.  John Leonidas Nichols was Daisy's brother.  Daisy and John were the niece and nephew, respectively, of my great grandmother Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols who married my great grandfather George Jackson Cox.

Joseph Benjamin (Joe) Ellis was the son of Daniel Devers (Dan) Ellis and Della Layman.

Evelyn Manning age 14 later married Harold A. Cox.  Harold was the son of James Harmon Cox and Ola Maud Cline.  As such, Harold was the nephew of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox and the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

I have the Bruce Williams family in my database, but the linkages from his family to families that I research are somewhat tenuous.

Bruce's wife was Josie Elizabeth Patterson.  Josie had a brother named Preston C. (Press) Patterson.  Press Patterson married Laura Susan Harrison.  Laura was the daughter of John David Harrison and Lillie May Moore.  As such, Laura was the niece of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison, and Laura was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Reba Clarice Williams age 5 later married Willie Eugene Catlett.  I haven't yet figured out how Willie fits into my Catlett family.

Lettie Myrtle Solomon was the daughter of John Wesley Solomon and Rhoda Rebecca (Becky) Harrison.  Becky was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  As such, Becky was the sister of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison.  So Lettie Solomon was Nannie Harrison's niece.

Ralph Quarles was the son of William Jonathan Quarles and Ida Irene Brown.

Charles Mac (Mac) Biddle Jr. age 10 later married Clarissa Lucille (Lucille) Harrison.  Lucille Harrison was the daughter of Daniel (Dan) Harrison and Mary Emily Ethel (Ethel) Cox.  Dan Harrison was the brother of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison.  Ethel Cox was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

Mac Biddle was the son of Charles Mac Biddle Sr. age 52 and Jennie C. Jones age 42.

Robert Murray (Bobbie) Sams age 9 married Marjorie Eugenia (Margie) Miller on 5 Apr 1951 in Jefferson County.  Margie was the daughter of Lloyd E. Miller and Mildred Frances Cox, and the granddaughter of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Ann Slaton.
