John Anderson Franklin Cox age 51 was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Retta or Rett) Nichols. As such, Uncle John was the brother of my paternal grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox.

John Cox married Mary Ann Slaton age 53 on 9 Dec 1906 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Aunt Mary was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden (Tom) Slaton and Rebecca Frances George. As such Frank was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and Aunt Mary was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Dorothy Gladys (Dot) Cox age 23 was Uncle John and Aunt Mary's daughter. She married Conley Otis (Con) Caton on 26 Dec 1933 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Barbara Jean Caton age 5 was Dot's daughter with Con Caton. Dot was about 7 months pregnant with her second daughter Mary Lou Caton at the time of the 1940 census. Dot Cox and Con Slaton were divorced in the early 1940's. It is not known if Dot was living with her parents at the time of the 1940 census because she was already separated from Con Caton or if she was there for help with the pregnancy and impending birth.

Wilma Fern (Fern) Cox age 13 and William Vern (Vern) Cox age 13 were twins. Therefore, the the fact that they were the same age in the census is not an error.

Mildred Frances Cox age 31 was the daughter of John Anderson Franklin Cox and Mary Jane Slaton.

John Cox was the son of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols. As such, John was the brother of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox and he was always referred to as Uncle John Cox. Mildred was my father's first cousin as a Cox and the children Lois, Mabel, and Marjorie are my second cousins as Coxes.

Mary Jane Slaton was the daughter of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore, and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden (Tom) Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  As such Frank was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and Mary Jane was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan. Therefore, Mildred was my father's second cousin as a Slaton, and the children Lois, Mabel, and Marjorie are my third cousins as Slatons.

Mildred married Lloyd Eugene Miller age 33 on 10 Aug 1924 in Jefferson County. Lloyd was the son of John Henry Miller and Margaret Jane Moore.

Polly married Robert Earl (Bob) Ailey on 1 Jun 1956 in Morristown, Hamblen County, Tennessee. Bob was the son of Arville Randolph Ailey and Alma Gertrude Slaton. Alma was the daughter of Joseph Porter (Port) Slaton and Minnie Ann Cox.

Port Slaton was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Ann Moore, and the grandson of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden Slaton and Rebecca Frances George. As such, Frank Slaton was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and Port Slaton was the first cousin of my great grandmother Nancy Virginia (Nannie) Harrison.

Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. As such, Alma was the first cousin of my father Robert Elmer (Bob) Bryan.

Port Slaton was the son of Francis Marion (Frank) Slaton and Mary Anne Moore, and the grandson of my third great grandparents Thomas Fielden (Tom) Slaton and Rebecca Frances George.  As such Frank was the brother of my second great grandmother Susan A. Slaton and Port was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Minnie Cox was the daughter of my great grandparents George Jackson Cox and Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols.  As such, Minnie was the sister of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox, and Alma was my father's first cousin as a Cox.  She also was my father's second cousin once removed as a Slaton.

Arville Randolph Ailey age 29 was the son of Henry Houston Ailey and Mary Melvina (Molly) Carey.  Alma and Arville were married on 17 Feb 1929 in Jefferson County.
