I have not been able to identify who this particular Hugh Henry was.  Henry was a prominent surname in Jefferson County and Sevier County, and Major Hugh Henry was one of the founders of the family in the area.  Hugh and Nancy moved from Jefferson County to McMinn County between 1860 and 1870.

William Horace Cate was the son of Gideon Cate and Elizabeth Stephenson.  Gideon Cate was the son of John Cate Jr. and Mary Ann Koontz.  John Cate Jr. was the son of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary.  As such John Cate Jr. was the brother of my fourth great grandfather Joshua Cate, and Gideon was Joshua's nephew.

I do not know Eveline's surname.  I assume she was William's wife, but courthouse marriage records are not extant for McMinn County prior to 1886.

Benjamin Huggins and William Cate age 75 appear to have been slaves owned by the Cate family prior to the Civil War.

Dist. 15, McMinn County, Tennessee, 27 Jul 1870, Athens PO

Newton J. Peters was the son of Landon C. Peters and Amie Bennett.  Landon Peters was from the Christian Peters line of Carter County, Tennessee.  I do not believe that this line is connected to mine.  However, I am mindful that my Peters line moved from Greenbrier County, Virginia to Anderson County, Tennessee in 1797.  There was a Christian Peters in Greenbrier County.  And Tobias Peters Sr. of Greenbrier County, Virginia and Anderson County, Tennessee had descendants with "Newton" in their name.

Newton's wife was Margaret Lane.  Newton J. Peters married Elizabeth J. Walker in 1872 in Knox County, Tennessee.  It seems likely that Margaret Lane died between 1870 and 1872, and that this was the same Newton J. Peters who married Elizabeth J. Walker.
