Reuben Dowell Peters was the son of Wesley M. Peters and Katherine Paul.  His wife was Tabitha N. Paul, and they were married 14 Jul 1869.  The infant was Leander Franklin (Frank) Peters, b. 8 May 1870.

Jonathan Mason Scarbrough age 25 was the son of Ann Davis age 50 and James Scarbrough who apparently died before 1870.  E. Davis age 52 was probably related to Ann Davis, possibly a sister or a sister-in-law.  William Scarbrough age 22 was Jonathan's brother.

This Scarbrough family was probably a part of the Scarbrough family from Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  However, I don't know what the exact connection was.

William Marion Grubb married Prudence Scarbrough, daughter of John Henry Scarbrough and Susan Jane Shannon (S Scarbrough in this census entry).  John Henry Scarbrough was the son of William Scarbrough I who was one of the brothers who moved to Anderson County with the Peters and who founded the Scarbrough community.

James Cole age 60 was the son of Richard Cole and Margaret from Hawkins County, Tennessee.  As such, James was the brother of Martin Cole.  Rebecca Jane (Jane) Birchell age 43 was James Cole's second wife.

I believe that Richard Cole and Margaret were my fourth great grandparents, and that Martin Cole was my third great grandfather.

Peter M. Stalcup age 12 later married Rachel Clevenger, and they were the parents of William R. (Will) Stalcup and Mary Docia (Dosie) Stalcup.  Will married Annie E. (Annie) Bray, and Dosie married Joseph Edward (Edward) Bray.  Annie and Edward were children of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.  As such, Annie and Edward were siblings of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.

Peter M. Stalcup was the son of Peter Stalcup and Rebecca Ann Callahan.  Rebecca married first Peter Stalcup and married second B. Dickson.  All the older children were Rebecca's children with Peter Stalcup.  Bugg Dickson was Rebecca's child with B. Dickson.

John C. Carroll age 24 married first Lucinda about 1867 and married second Harriet M (Hattie) England.  Hattie was the daughter of my third great grandparents Jacob England and Dica Ann (Dicy) Smith.  As such, Hattie was the sister of my second great grandmother Margaret Ann (Maggie) England.

John C. Carroll was the son of Nathaniel Caroll and Sarah.  Clems age 30 was John C. Carroll's sister Clementine.

Tobias Peters Jr. was the son of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough.  His second wife was Martha Miranda (Marthy) Mays, daughter of Levi Mays and Elizabeth Henderson.  Tobias and Marthy were married 9 Dec 1852 in Roane County.

All the children listed in the 1870 were children of Tobias and Marthy.  Tobias' children by his first wife Louisa Henderson would all have been adults by 1870.

Elizabeth Henderson age 84 was Marthy's mother and Rhoda Mays age 48 was Marthy's sister.
