Lavator B. Roberts was the son of Thomas S. Roberts and H. Elizabeth Bryan.  Elizabeth was the daughter of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, Lavator B. Roberts was the nephew of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.

Note that Ray was really a 4 year old son rather than a 14 year old daughter.

John H. Nichols was my second great grandfather.  His sister Mary never married.  They were children of my third great grandparents Sarah F. (Sally) Nichols and a Mr. Catlett.  There was a Nichols/Catlett feud and a Nichols/Catlett lawsuit, with the result that Sally's children took the Nichols surname.

John H. Nichols was listed as widowed, but he was divorced from my second great grandmother Martha P. Reneau.

Girty Hazel (Hazel) Huffaker age 23 married first Nathan Silas Henry age 29 and married second Elmer Otto Bryan.  Elmer married first Maude I. Atchley, and they had been married for 54 years at the time of Maude's death.  Hazel and Elmer were married when she was about 76 years old and when he was about 90 years old.  Elmer was famous in the family for having married at such an age.

Elmer was known in the family as Uncle Elmer Bryan to distinguish him from Uncle Elmer Cox.  Uncle Elmer Bryan was the son of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, Uncle Elmer Bryan was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

Hazel Huffaker was the daughter of James E. Huffaker and Nancy Malinda Johnson.  In the 1920 census, she was living with her husband and children in the home of her husband's parents.  Therefore, she should have been listed as a daughter-in-law rather than as a daughter.

Nathan Silas Henry was the son of Oliver Andrew (Andy) Henry age 55 and Elizabeth J. (Lizzie) Talbert age 57.  I'm not really a Henry researcher, but there were a lot of Bryan-Henry marriages, so I dabble a little bit in Henry family history.  Oliver Andrew (Andy) Henry was apparently not connected to the famous Hugh Henry family.  Rather, Andy appears to have been the son of Samuel Henry and Martha W. Douglass, and the grandson of Benjamin Henry and Elizabeth Hammel.

Elmer Otto Bryan was the son of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood from dwelling number 9.  As such, Uncle Elmer was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  Uncle Elmer's first wife was Maud I. Atchley.

Uncle Elmer was generally called "Uncle Elmer Bryan" rather than just "Uncle Elmer" to distinguish him from "Uncle Elmer Cox".

Uncle Elmer and Aunt Maud never had any children, but they loved children.  There was some consideration that they might adopt my father after my father's mother died.  But the decision instead was that my father was raised by Robert Elmer (Elmer) Cox and Lydia Ethel (Ethel) Bryan until my grandfather remarried.

I believe this was William Luke Drinnen, son of Thomas Drinnen and Mary Jane Bryan.  According to stones at the Bryan-Drinnen-Cate Cemetery Wm. Luke Drinnen was born 1870 and died 1933, and M. Anna Drinnen was born 1874 and died 1947.

Mary Jane Bryan was the daughter of William Enyard Bryan and Amanda Keener.  As such, Mary Jane was the niece of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

William Allen (Will) Bryan age 70 and Malissa E. Underwood age 66 were my second great grandparents.

Will was the son of Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.

Malissa was the daughter of William Ramey Underwood and Martha Langston.

The only child who was still at home was Lola Helen Bryan age 33.  Lola married John Amos (Amos) Underwood the very next year.  Amos Underwood was living next door, and he was Lola's second cousin.

John Amos (Amos) Underwood was the son of Rufus White Underwood and Sarah Pollard.  Amos was the great grandson of my fourth great grandparents Enoch Underwood and Nancy Underwood (first cousins who married).  As such, Amos was the grandnephew of my third great grandfather William Ramey Underwood.

Amos's first wife Clauda Lee Bryan died 7 Apr 1919, about eight months before the 1920 census was taken.  He would marry Clauda's first cousin Lola Helen Bryan in a little more than a year, 22 Sep 1921.  Lola was living next door in dwelling number 9, and Lola was his second cousin.  Amos's children were Gladys L. Underwood, Cleo Bryan Underwood, and William Raymond (Bill) Underwood.

James P. (Jim) Bryan age 62, Adeline/Emeline (Ada) Bryan age 50, and Margaret M. (Maggie) Bryanage 54 were the children of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, they were siblings of my second great grandfather William Allen (Allen) Bryan.

Jim and Ada never married.  They are buried next to each other, and some researchers have therefore listed them as husband and wife instead of brother and sister.

Maggie married first Stewart Erastus Trotter and married second Henry Randolph.  In 1920, she was the widow of Henry Randolph.

Thomas Allen (Allen) Bryan was the son of William Enyard Bryan and Amanda Keener.  As such, he was the nephew of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

Ida Bell Cate was the daughter of Elisha Porter Cate Jr. and Mary Jane Drinnen.  Elisha Porter Cate Jr. was the great grandson of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary.  Elisha Porter Cate Jr. was also the great grandson of my fifth great grandparents William P. Cate and Mary Enyard.

Mary Jane Corum age 72 was the daughter of Rev. Noah Corum.

Lena Vesta (Vestie) Bryan was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.  She was referred to in the family as Aunt Vestie.

Peter Walker (Walker) Cate was the son of Allen Perry (Perry) Cate and Harriet Rebecca (Hattie) Cate.  Perry and Hattie were first cousins who married, both of them having been grandchildren of Elisha Porter Cate and Mary Elizabeth Newman.  Just to make things further confusing, Elisha Porter Cate was the grandson of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary, and Mary Elizabeth Newman was the granddaughter of my fifth great grandparents William P. Cate and Mary EnyardJohn Cate Sr. and William P. Cate are suspected of having been related, but not verifiable proof has been discovered to confirm this suspicion.

Treva May Wheeler age 5 married Ray Stanley (Stanley) Cate on 20 Oct 1984.  It was the second marriage for both of them.  Treva married first Frank Liston.  Stanley married first Ethel Hatcher.

Stanley Cate was the son of Peter Walker (Walker) Cate and Lena Vesta (Vestie) Bryan.  Aunt Vestie was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Allen (Will) Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, Aunt Vestie was the brother of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

I'm related to Walker Cate in almost too many ways to count.  He was the son of the first cousins Allen Perry (Perry) Cate and Harriet Rebecca (Hattie) Cate.  Both of Perry and Hattie Cate were second great grandchildren through their common paternal grandfather Elisha Cate of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary.  In addition, both Perry and Hattie Cate were second great grandchildren through their common paternal grandmother Mary Elizabeth Newman of my fifth great grandparents William P. Cate and Mary Enyard.

Treva May Wheeler was the daughter of Loy Waters Wheeler age 34 and Belle Sheubert age 32.

Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bryan age 63 was the daughter of my third great grandparents Peters H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, she was the sister of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.

Woods and Suzanna Luzetta Underwood, and the granddaughter of my third great grandparents William Ramey Underwood and Martha LangstonWilliam Ramey Underwood in turn was the son of the aforementioned Enoch Underwood and Nancy Underwood, and the brother of the aforementioned Joannah Underwood.  So Lloyd was essentially his own second cousin once removed.

Lloyd's wife was Mary (Frenchie) Brooks age 21.

Lydia Bethel (Bethel) Solomon was the daughter of John Wesley Solomon and Rhoda Rebecca (Becky) Harrison.  Becky Harrison was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph Harrison and Susan A. Slaton.  So Bethel Solomon was the first cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan.

Allie Cate was the son of William Lawrence Cate and Elizabeth (Betty) Byous.  I'm a little suspicious of the spelling of Elizabeth's surname, but "Byous" is the best I can do right now.  Allie was the third great grandson of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary, but his line is very different than mine.  I am descended from John Cate Sr.'s son Joshua Cate, whereas Allie was descended from John Cate Sr.'s son James T. Cate.

Settlers by the Long Grey Trail  has Allie and Bethel backwards, listing Bethel as the husband and Allie as the wife.  A number of GEDCOM's on the Internet contain the same error, probably having gotten their data from Settlers by the Long Grey Trail.

Alex Underwood was the son of Enoch Pleasant (Pless) Underwood and Susan M. Pollard, and the grandson of my third great grandparents William Ramey Underwood and Martha Langston.  Susan Pollard was the daughter of James C. Pollard and Cynthia Cate.  Cynthia was the daughter of Rev. Elijah Cate and Susannah Underwood.  As such, Cynthia was the granddaughter of my fifth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary, and also the granddaughter of my fifth great grandparents John Underwood and Mary Kirby.

Ollie Frances (Frances) Bryan was the daughter of John Greenwood/Greenberry Bryan and Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) McMahahan.  John Greenwood/Greenberry Bryan was the son of my third great grandparents Peter Hubbard Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate.  As such, John was the brother of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan.

Boyd was the son of Robert James F. Snyder age 34 and Mollie E. Bailey age 30.
