Even though the census entry says "boarder", Pauline (Polly) Bryan and Mayme Lee Bryan were sisters, daughters of George Steward (Steward) Bryan and Mattie Rymer. Steward Bryan was the son of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate. As such, Steward was the brother of my second great grandfather William Allen Bryan. Mayme and Polly Bryan were first cousins of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan. Mattie Rymer died when her daughters Mayme and Polly were still very young, so they were raised by relatives. In 1920, Polly was living with her sister Mayme and with her brother-in-law William Burr (Burr) Harrison Jr. (The census has him listed as Burr William Harrison rather than William Burr Harrison, but the census has it backwards.) Burr Harrison was apparently not from the same Harrison line from which I am descended. Mildred Harrison's full name was Mildred Bryan Harrison. |

William Burr Harrison Sr. was the father of William Burr Harrison Jr. next door who married Mayme Lee Bryan. I have William Burr Harrison Sr's. wife listed as Cornelia Hunter Miller. I'm assuming that Cornelia Hunter Miller and Neal M. Harrison were the same person, with her name being treated as Cornelia Miller (Neal) Harrison. |
