I believe that this was Thomas Slayden, son of my fifth great grandparents Daniel Slayden and Nancy Shelton.  If so, then Thomas was the brother of my fourth great grandfather William Slaydon.

Thomas married his first cousin Rachel Slayden.  Rachel was the daughter of Joseph Slayden and Mildred.

William Slaydon age 26-44 and Susannah Flippin age 18-25 were my fourth great grandparents.  The best available evidence is that William was born about 1792 and would have been about 28 years old at the time of the 1820 census.  Similarly, the best available evidence is that Susannah was born about 1798 and would have been about 22 years old at the time of the 1820 census.

William was the son of William Slayden and Nancy SheltonSusannah was the daughter of Joseph Flippin and unknownWilliam and Susannah were married on 23 Feb 1817 in Pittsylvania County.

My third great grandfather Thomas Fielden Slaton age 00-09 was born 1 Mar 1818.  His sister Nancy Slaton age 00-09 was the second born child.  Her exact birthdate is not known, but it was probably in late 1819 or in early 1820 before the census.
