According to Carolyn Nall Homerding, Joyce Yadon visited a cousin who was living in Mobile, Alabama where she met and married Orval Nall. Joyce was very young and the marriage was very brief. Joyce called her mother (Ella Peters Cole) to come bring her home to Knoxville. Carolyn was born back in Knoxville, and Carolyn and Joyce lived in the home of Ella Peters Cole and Clyde Cole for several years thereafter. Carolyn had very limited contact with her father, and her mother soon cut off the contact because it was so upsetting to Carolyn. Carolyn's father was killed in a car accident at the age of 36.
