When James Hand Monger died, his wife Bertie Hinds went to High Point to find work. Some of Bertie's sisters's family lived there. She took Florine and Hazel there right after they graduated from high school. Bill went to High Point to find Florine and get married. They drove to Danville, Virginia to get married. It is not known why Danville, but it was just straight up the road about maybe 50 miles or less. Then they went back to High Point and then back to Knoxville. When Don was close to being born, Florine went back to High Point so her mom could help.
