I recently discovered that Aunt Vida actually had a first husband. They were living in Louisiana when my grandfather Ernest Leonard Wall went to visit. This was near the beginning of WW I and her first husband was a German sympathizer. Grandpa arrived during a meeting of German sympathizers (the story claims Nazi meeting but that is historically impossible), Grandpa was appalled, had Vida pack her things, took her back to Kansas with him where this first marriage was annulled.
