The 1900 census lists her name as Amanda. It seems likely that her name was Minerva Amanda. Women named Amanda are often called Mandy, and Mandy as a middle name is likely the source of her middle initial being listed as "M". However, her grandson Jack McCampbell reports that she was known as Nerve, a shortening of Minerva.
