Mabel Karpus Rites Planned: Mabel Gertrude Karpus, 78, a native of Oakland and a resident of Soquel for the last two years, died Wednesday in a local hospital after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Karpus of Soquel; a son, Trent Karpus of San Francisco; two daughters, Mrs. Belma Kain and Mrs. Martha Peterson, both of Soquel; eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the auxiliary to the Nelson A. Miles camp of the United Spanish War Veterans.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Irvin M. Smith and Sons funeral chapel with Mrs. Robert Giesel reader. Interment will follow in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.
