Peters, Samuel Arthur - age 79, of Norwood, passed away at his home Friday afternoon. Member of Dante United Methodist Church, Powell Lodge No. 582, F&AM. Retired from Union Carbide after many years of service. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Edna Holloway Peters, Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dr. Ray King, Andersonville, Lois and William Goddard, Halls; grandchildren, Melissa and Brian Goddard, Lisa King Smith, Steven King, all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 4 p.m. Sunday, Gentry-Griffey Chapel, Rev. David A. Starling officiating. Interment Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens. Masonic memorial service 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Gentry-Griffey Chapel, conducted by Powell Lodge No. 582. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

She was cafeteria manager of Norwood School for over 20 years before retiring. Preceded in death by husband, Samuel Arthur Peters. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dr. Ray King, Andersonville, Lois and William Goddard, Halls; grandchildren, Melissa and Brian Goddard, Lisa and Tom Smith, Steven King, all of Knoxville; sisters, Mrs. Velma Bowman, Etowah, Mrs. Sally Leinart, Lake City, Mrs. Dixie Tillett, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.
