Cole Ida 11 female single white, servant TN -- TN, enumerated household of John W. Scarbrough and John's wife Mary A. (Polly) Peters. Polly was Ida's grandaunt, so the relationship was more of a family relationship than one of Ida having been a servant. However, oral family history suggests that Ida was in fact treated more like a servant than like a grandniece. Also living in the household was Polly's mother and Ida's great grandmother Sarah (Sallie) England, who in 1880 was the widow of Thomas Peters. Ida's mother and two of her sisters were enumerated in Knox County. Ida was apparently living with family members in Anderson County because Ida's mother was widowed and was financially unable to keep her family together. A fourth sister Sallie was also living with family in Anderson County.

Mrs. Ida R. Wells, wife of H. P. Wells, died Wednesday morning at 7:10 o'clock at the home of her son, W. H. Wells, Coster street, Inskip. She was 66. Mrs. Wells was a member of Lonsdale Baptist church. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of her son in Inskip. The Rev. H. L. Thornton and the Rev. O. E. Householder will officiate. Burial will be in New Gray cemetery. She is survived by her husband; four sons, W. H. and E. C. Wells of Knoxville; R. C. Wells of Richmond, Va and George E. Wells of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Redman of Knoxville and Mrs. Bessie Riley of Bowling Green, Ky; two stepsons, Luther B. Wells of Detroit and Arthur C. Wells of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. J. E. Fraley of Knoxville, Mrs. Sallie Peters and Mrs. Carrie Scarborough of Edgemoor.
