Partition Deed. Bessie Slaton to Cricket Allen Registered June 29th, 1926. Know all men by these presents that whereas W.P. Slaton died at his residence in Jefferson County, Tennessee intestate leaving surviving heirs as his sole heirs at law two children to wit: Cricket Slaton the wife of W.A. Allen, and Bessie Slaton who is unmarried, and his widow Mrs. Rachel Slaton and whereas said W.P. Slaton died seized and possessed of certain lands situated in the 5th Civil District of Jefferson County Tennessee on the French Broad River and being the lands conveyed to W.P. Slaton by the deed of F.N. Seatin of record in the Registers office of Jefferson County Tennessee in Deed Book no. 20 page 564 and and by this deed of A.G. Taylor it ahn(?) of record in said offices in Book 19 page 408 under deed of Geo. S. Williams of record in said office in Book 24 page 71 under which was acquired title to 63 acres more or less title to said land passed to said Cricket Slaton Allen and Bessie Slaton by decent cast subject to the homestead and dower rights of said widow and whereas by mutual consent and agreement partition of said land has this day been made by the parties in interest. Now Therefore in order to Carry into effect said agreement and the further consideration of the one dollar in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged I therefore said Bessie Slaton party of the first part do bargain sell transfer convey and forever quit claim unto Cricket Allen her heirs and designs all my right title estate and interest in and to the following described tract of land being the western portion of said W.P. Slaton farm bounded and described as follows:
Beginning on a stake at the French Broad River a corner with Thomas Swann thence with his line South 4 East 340 poles to a rock formerly a white oak and corner of said Geo. S. Williams tract: thence with the line of the same South 6 West 103 poles to a stake in the Dandridge and Newport Pike: thence with the center of said pike South 60 ½ East 757 feet to a stake Corner of the partition line this day made thence with the said line to the French Broad River as follows: (1) North 9 3/4 East 91 poles to a rock: (2) North 1/4 5 West 111 3/4 West to a rock: (3) North 12 – 10 East passing just East of a spring and including said spring 63 poles to a rock at the bottom (4) North 57 - 25 West passing on the North passing on the north side of the old ditch 16 poles to a rock: (5) North 1 - 45 West. Crossing the Bottoms 150 poles to a stake and pointers on the bank of said river: thence with the meanders of said river following the low water mark to the beginning Containing 150 acres more or less. With all the hereditaments appurtenances thereto appertaining releasing all claims to homestead and dower therein to have and assign forever.

Ellis, Jefferson City, Mrs. Frank Simms, Dandridge, Mrs. W.O. Horner, Knoxville, nephew Tensley Allen, Sweetwater. Funeral services Thursday 11 a.m. from Farrar's Chapel, Rev. Arby Pritchett and Rev. Shelton Clark officiating. Interment in Mullins Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Farrar's, Dandridge, in charge. (Bessie Slaton was listed as “Mrs.” in her obituary, even though she never married. Also, her surname was spelled Slayton in her obituary, even though all the other extant records (including her tombstone) spell it as Slaton.)
