James Cox was the son of my fourth great grandparents Reuben Cox and Susannah Padgett. As such, he was the brother of my third great grandfather Riley Cox. James' wife was Susannah Morgan. James was born in North Carolina. Also, I am suspicious that Susan's birth place may be incorrect. I don't think we really know where she was born. |

Francis (Fanny) Martin age 79 was my fourth great grandmother. In 1860, Fanny was the widow of my fourth great grandfather Zorable Langston. I believe that Fanny was born in South Carolina rather than in Tennessee. The enumerator for Bradley County in 1860 left the birth place blank when it was Tennessee, filling it in only when it was not Tennessee. But the birth place was blank for everybody in the family, including for Fanny. Fanny was living in the home of her son Martin Langston and Martin's wife Mary (Polly) Atchley. I think of the family as a Sevier County family rather than as a Bradley County family. Martin had moved to Bradley County before the 1850 census. I have not been able to find Fanny in the 1850 census, neither in Sevier County nor in Bradley County. So I don't know when she moved to Bradley County to live with her son. |

Eliza J. Bryan age 42 was the daughter of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate. As such, Eliza was the sister of my third great grandfather Peter Hubbard Bryan. George W. Wooten age 47 was the son of Turner Wooten and Nancy Roper. George and Eliza were married about 1838, probably in Sevier County. They were enumerated in the 1840 census in Bradley County. |

James Graves Jones age 5 later married Jerusa Jane Gaut. Jerusa was the daughter of Margaret Angeline (Angeline) Bryan and John J. Gaut. Margaret Angeline (Angeline) Bryan was the daughter of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate. As such, Angeline was the sister of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan. I have written Tennessee as the birth place for all three household members. However, the enumerator wrote Tennessee as the birth place for the first person on the page and omitted the birth place for everyone else on the page unless they were born somewhere other than Tennessee. In the case of James Graves Jones, omitting his birth place was an error because he was born in Georgia. The parents of James Graves Jones are not known, and it is not known exactly how he was related to Marshall and Rachel McCray. James must have been related to them because in the 1880 census Rachel was enumerated in the household of James Graves Jones and was listed as a cousin. However, James may have been related to Marshall McCray rather than to Rachel. Rachel's surname is not known. |
