I am by no means sure of surname in this transcription.  It is very difficult to read.  I am trying to gather all the Coal/Cole entries for Hawkins County.  This entry doesn't look like one I'm interested in, but you can never be sure.

I am looking in the 1860 census for my second great grandfather William Cole who married my second great grandmother Vesta Clay England.  My William Cole was 23 years old in the 1870 census.  William Cole age 19 in this family was therefore the wrong age in 1860 to have been my William Cole.  But James Cole age 53 was the brother of Martin Cole and the son of Richard Cole from Hawkins County Dist.13 dwelling number 993 (see below).  The William Cole in dwelling number 993 was the right age to have been my William Cole.

This family is going to be tricky to research because there were a lot of first cousins (children of James and Martin, respectively) who had the same given names.  Both James and Martin had sons named William, named Richard, and named Andrew.  Both James and Martin had daughters named Margaret.  So, for example, if I find a Hawkins County marriage for a William Cole, I will need to know which William.  If it was William son of James, then it proves nothing because William son of James was not the right age to be my William Cole anyway.  But if it was William son of Martin, then it provides strong evidence that William son of Martin did not marry Vesta Clay England and therefore was not my William Cole.

I am looking in the 1860 census for William Cole who married Vesta Clay England.  William Cole age 14 in Hawkins County is a possible candidate.
