1870 Census, Morgan County, Tennessee

Dist. 1, Morgan County, Tennessee, 1 Jun 1870, Crooked Fork PO
p.1a, dwelling number 12, family number 12
Roddy Samuel 51 m w farmer $75/$150 TN
       Lucinda 52 f w keeping house TN cannot W
William 18 m w farm laborer TN attended school

       Telitha 22 f w at home TN cannot R/W

William Roddy age 18 married Charlotte J. (Sharlley or Lottie) Shannon in 1889.  (William was age 11 in the 1860 census, so he was probably closer to 21 than to 18 in 1870.)  It was the second marriage for both of them.  William's first wife was Martha Elizabeth (Elizabeth) Thomas.

Charlotte's first husband was Thomas J. (Tom) Peters, son of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby Smith.  As such, Tom was the brother of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters.

William was the son of Samuel Roddy and Lucinda Davis.

             Susan 4/12 f w TN

I'm reasonably sure that Mary age 3 was Mary Frances (Fanny) Stonecipher who later married Cleophus Elijah Samsel Sr.  Cleophus was the son of James A. Samsel and Mary J. Peters.

Mary was the daughter of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby Smith.  As such, Mary was the sister of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters.  Therefore, Cleophus was the nephew of John Henry Peters, and Cleophus was the first cousin of my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters.

The LDS Web site says that Ezra Stonecipher's wife was Elizabeth Black, but I have been unable to verify her surname independently.
