James A. Samsel was the husband of Mary J. Peters.  Mary was the daughter of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby Smith.  Mary died sometime before the 1900 census, and James married Mary A. Mullins about 1903.

Although this census entry says that James was married four times, I only have records for two of his marriages -- his marriage to Mary J. Peters in 1883 in his marriage to Mary A. Mullins in 1903.

William Wright Peters was the son of Thomas Jefferson (Tom) Peters and Charlotte J. (Sharlley) Shannon.  As such, William was the nephew of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters.  Charlotte J. (Sharlley) Shannon was the daughter of Pleasant Wright (Wright) Shannon and Sidney Viles/Voyls.

A mystery associated with the family is that the death certificate of William Wright Peters lists his father as Tom Peters and his mother as Lollie Voyls rather than as Charlotte or Lollie Shannon.  Charlotte Shannon had several nicknames, one of which was Lollie.  So the nickname per se is not an issue.  The issue is the listing of her surname as Voyls on the death certificate of her son.  Charlotte was born in 1846, and her parents were married in 1849.  All of her own records list her surname as Shannon, but a record for one of her sons lists her surname as Voyls which was her mother's surname.  So perhaps Pleasant Wright (Wright) Shannon was not Charlotte's birth father.

Olive Jane (Jane) Young was the daughter of John Andrew Young and Nancy Ann York.  At the time of the 1910 census, she was the widow of Wesley C. Peters and was living with her brother Layton Smith Young.  Stella Peters was the daughter of Wesley C. Peters and his first wife Mary Sophronia York.  Jane Young married for the first time at the age of 48, and did not have any children.

Because Jane Young and Wesley C. Peters were married in 1898 and had no children, and because Mary Sophronia York died in 1896, I really believe Stella York was born about 1896 and would have been closer to 24 years old than to 20 years old in 1910.
