John Cross age 20-29 is unknown. My best guess is that he was the son of my fourth great grandfather William Cross who moved to Knox County, Tennessee in 1817 and then to Anderson County, Tennessee in 1818. |

William Cross age 40-49 is reported to have been the son of Abraham Cross Sr. and Elizabeth Ensor and the grandson of my fifth great grandparents William (Brittain) Cross and Alice Cole. If this was the case, Abraham Cross Sr. was the brother of my fourth great grandfather William Cross and this William Cross was the first cousin of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross. I think the evidence is weak that this William Cross was the the son of Abraham Cross Sr. and Elizabeth Ensor. However, I have no other suggestions to offer. For example, he does not seem like a good fit to have been the son of my fourth great grandfather William Cross who was born in 1762. |

Abraham's application for a War of 1812 pension listed Peachy's maiden name as Peachy Baker. So Jacob Gitt may have been her stepfather. |

David Looney Cross Cross age 20-29 was the son of Elijah Cross Sr. and Nancy Ann Lane and the grandson of my fifth great grandparents William (Brittain) Cross and Alice Cole. As such, Elijah Cross Sr. was the brother of my fourth great grandfather William Cross and David Looney Cross was the first cousin of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross. Nancy Ann Lane was the widow of Samuel Looney when she married Elijah Cross Sr. It therefore seems likely that David Looney Cross was named for Samuel Looney. David's wife was Catherine Boy age 20-29, daughter of Adam Boy and Sarah Royston. David Looney Cross was probably actually age 30-39 at the time of the 1830 census, but it's possible to distinguish him from the "other" David Cross of about the same age in Sullivan County based on the ages of the respective children for each man in the 1830 census. |

David L. Cross age 30-39 was the son of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy. As such, David was the brother of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross. A problem in determining the identity of this David Cross is that there were two men in Sullivan County named David L. Cross. The two men were first cousins, and they were about the same age. So in the 1830 census, you have to determine which was which by looking at the ages of the children. You cannot go just by the presence or the absence of the middle initial in the census enumeration. David's wife was Mary Adaline (Polly) Himes age 30-39, daughter of George Himes. |

I believe that O'Brien Pile age 15-19 was a Brian O'Brien Jr. descendant. Namely, I believe he was the son of George Phillip Pile and Elizabeth Pendleton O'Brien, and the grandson of Brian O'Brien Jr. and Mary Ann Thomas. Brian O'Brien Jr. is a candidate to have been the brother of my seventh great grandfather Cornelius O'Bryan. However, I don't think there is presently sufficient evidence to prove that Brian and Cornelius were brothers. If they were, then Elizabeth Pendleton O'Brien was the first cousin of my sixth great grandfather Thomas Bryan Sr., and O'Brien Pile was the second cousin of my fifth great grandfather Peter Bryan. Brian's wife was Elizabeth age 15-19. |

The ages do not match quite right, but I believe this John Cross age 40-49 was the son of Abraham Cross Sr. and Elizabeth Ensor. John was living next door to Abraham Cross Sr. (who would have been his father, if I am guessing correctly) and also next door to Abraham Cross Jr. (who would have been his brother, if I am guessing correctly). John's wife was Rachel Sampson age 30-39, daughter of Emanuel Sampson and Mary Royston. |
