Sybil Pearl (Sib or Sibbie) Davis age 5 married John Daniel Waits Sr. about 1914. John was the son of Joseph/Joel R. Waits and Frankie Ann Cox. Frankie was the daughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce. As such, Frankie was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox and John Daniel Waits Sr. was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. Sibbie was the daughter of Lewis Lee Davis age 32 and Lewis's first wife Dora Miller who died on 24 Nov 1896. Blanche L. Davis age 6 was also the daughter of Dora Miller, and Ernest J. Davis age 8/12 was the son of Lewis's second wife Mae age 20. I have not yet been able to determine Mae's surname. This census entry includes two errors made by the original enumerator. First is that the name is listed as Sue P. Davis rather than as Sybil or Sibbie or Sib. Second, Lewis is listed as having been married 1 time when in fact he had been married twice. |

Columbus Adkins Arnott age 34 married Martha Ann (Mattie) Waits about 1903. Mattie was the daughter of Joseph R. Waits and Frankie Ann Cox, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce. As such, Frankie was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, and Mattie was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. There is no known connection between Columbus Arnott and the Millard Yarbrough family, and the origins of Columbus in Tennessee are not known. |
