Father*Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray (born 9 February 1891, died 20 November 1974)
Mother*Kathleen Haven Reed (born 31 January 1903, died 13 August 1978)
NoteThere is some confusion about his name. One newspaper clipping of his death says that his name was Charles Edward Bray. Another newspaper clipping of his death says that his name was Charles Frederick Bray. The 1930 census says that his name was Fred C. Bray. His death certificate says that his name was Charles F. 16 July 1935; Knoxville Journal [Knoxville, Tennessee], 15 Jul 1935, page 2.;
Philadelphia, Tenn., July 15. While watching a funeral procession go by a filling station here about 3 o’clock this afternoon, Charles Edward Bray, 10, stepped into the road and was struck by a car coming in the opposite direction. The car carried the boy several feet and when it stopped, the lad was dead. The driver. J. E. Philips of Atlanta, driving South from a vacation trip, said he swerved to avoid the boy, applied his brakes and skidded several feet, but to no avail. Sheriff Tom Hart, after investigating, declared the accident was unavoidable. Mr. Philips was allowed to go on his way. The body of the boy was taken to an undertaker’s at Loudon. He was the son of Charles Gray (sic). (The article misidentified Charles Frederick Bray as Charles Edward Bray in addition to misspelling his father's name. The article was dated July 15th but appeared in the paper on July 16th.)5
