Obituary:
Peters, Mrs. W. O. -- A Tribute To Mrs. W. O. Peters -- Once again the old fashioned death has entered our circle and taken from us our well loved member. Mrs. W. O. Peters. The Woman's League of which she was a member pay tribute to her lofty and exalted Christian character. She bore uncomplainingly a long and painful illness, always looking to her kind Heavenly Father for strength to meet whatever was before her. The members made many visits to her bedside, always coming away with faith fortified by her bravery. She never complained but sought in every way to alleviate the fear her friends had for her. As a member of' the Woman's League she showed her fine character and displaying rare tact in her decisions. Her advice was invaluable and we sought it on all occasions. In her character as wife and mother the fine points of her nature were indicative of the lofty aspirations of her character. One of her last acts was to set on foot a plan to have a Library for the school children and even as she lay dying, she instructed our Treasurer as to the plans she wished carried out. There will be a vacant chair in the home. And well may her children rise up and call her strength and strove to awaken in them the same Christian spirit that actuated her own life. She had lived with us only a short time and in that interval had endeared herself to the entire community. To her life partner we extend the most heartfelt sympathy and her children are the object of our prayers and solicitation. May He comfort them and keep ever before them the example she so earnestly endeavored to teach them. "None knew her but to love her, None named her but to praise." Signed Mrs. J. S. Thatcher. [Morgan County Press 3/27/1925, Vol. 7, No. 32]

Linnie was buried on 21 March 1925 in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Burrville, Morgan County, Tennessee.149

Her death certificate says that Linnie's mother was Anna Webb. All other indications are that her mother was Nancy Derick Carpenter. (RGB)
