Wesley died on 21 February 1906 at the age of 44. He was buried about 23 February 1906 in Nydek Cemetery, Morgan County, Tennessee. Morgan County Court Minutes p.5: A. R. Lewallen guardian of W. C. Peters, a minor of Leander J. Peters, dec'd, made settlement which was accepted . The settlement shows that the said Lewallen has drawn from the government $166 since his last settlement. Lewallen, renewed his bond. (Leander's wife Nancy Derick Carpenter married second Andrew Russell Lewallen. Andrew Lewallen became the stepfather and guardian of Leander's son Wesley C. Peters. I believe that the money drawn from the government by Andrew Lewallen may have been a Civil War pension for Wesley C. Peters, but I need to verify the source of the money.)
