Reuben Dowell (Dowell) Peters was the son of Wesley M. Peters and Catherine/Katherine Paul.  Parthena J. was the second wife of Reuben Dowell Peters, but I have no record of their marriage because there was a Fentress County court house fire in 1905.  They had been married 16 years in 1910, so they were married about 1894.  It was the second marriage for Parthena as well, and I have not been able to determine who she was.

The report that Dowell's father was born in Virginia is a little puzzling.  Wesley M. Peters was the son of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough.  Tobias was certainly born in Virginia.  But the family moved to Tennessee in 1797, well before Wesley was born.  All indications except for this census entry suggest that all of Tobias's children were born in Tennessee.

Because Dowell Peters was of the Tobias Peters line, there is no proven connection to my Peters line.

Charles E. Peters was the son of Reuben Dowell (Dowell) Peters and Dowell's first wife Tabitha N. Paul.  Charles' wife was Laura Edna (Edna) Smith.
