Joseph A. (Joe) Bray age 61 and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore age 62 were my second great grandparents.  I have never seen Salina referred to as "Carolina" anywhere other than this particular census entry.  Also, the "R" as the middle initial for Joe is a correct transcription, but I know that his middle initial was "A"Joe and Salina were married 17 Nov 1870 in Anderson County.

Joseph A. (Joe) Bray was the son of my third great grandparents Edward Payne Bray and Anna F. MessamoreFerriba Salina (Salina) Moore was the daughter of my third great grandparents Joseph Elvin Moore and Elizabeth Braden

Callie M. Robinson age 21 was the daughter of George M. Robinson and Victoria L. Jackson.  Callie and Ben were married on 26 Dec 1909 in Loudon County.

John William Williamson age 32 and Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray age 30 were my great grandparents.  John and Haley were married on 25 Dec 1898 in Loudon County.  Mahala was known as Aunt Haley by her nieces and nephews, and as Nother Mama by her grandchildren.  John was known as Poppa by his grandchildren.  The children were Lola Ethel age 10 (my grandmother), Nora Lee (Aunt Nora) age 6, and Willie Ragin (Uncle Bill) age 2.  Aunt Lela was born in 1911 and hence was not enumerated in this census entry.  They lived on Broadway in Lenoir City.

John William Williamson was the son of my second great grandparents Alexander L. (Alex) Williamson and Margaret Ann (Maggie) England.  Both of them were born in North Carolina, so John's census entry should say TN NC NC.  Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray was the daughter of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.

Contrary to what the census says, this was Haley Bray's second marriage.  There is a record of her first marriage to William George Washington Green in the Loudon County marriage book.  Haley had a son with William Green named Charles Lee Bray who was raised by Haley's parents.  So the census should say that she had 4 children still living rather than 3.  The question mark on my transcription of her number of children is not because of doubt about how to transcribe it.  The number of children is just a big ink blotch.  And really, the census should say that she had 5 children and 4 living, because a daughter Laura May Williamson was born and died in 1899.

Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray age 20 was the son of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray and her first husband William George Washington Green.  As such, Uncle Charlie was the half-brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Uncle Charlie was raised by his maternal grandparents and took the Bray surname rather than the Green surname.  His mother and half-siblings were living in dwelling number 388 (see above) in the 1910 Loudon County, Tennessee census.

Minnie Ann King age 21 was the daughter of William Benjamin King and Lillie Hortense Adams.  Minnie and Uncle Charlie were married on 17 Jun 1906 in Loudon County.  Minnie's two children who died in infancy before the 1910 census were Gladys Irene Bray 18 Jul 1908 - 9 Aug 1908 and Beatrice Bray 12 May 1909 - 12 May 1909.

Cole.  Nettie was the double first cousin of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.

Lester Lane was the son of William Thomas (Thomas) Lane and Nancy Jane Bright.

Harold Temple Bray age 10 was the son of William Webster (W.W. or Billy) Bray and Rhoda Amos age 30.  Uncle Billy was the son of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.  As such, Uncle Billy was the brother of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.

Rhoda married Uncle Billy on 29 Sep 1895 in Knox County.  I haven't found a divorce record yet, but evidently they were divorced with Rhoda's maiden name having been restored.  She married Moses Green age 30 under the name Roda Amos on 6 Oct 1904 in Loudon County.

In turn, Haley Bray married first William George Washington Green on 7 Apr 1889 in Loudon County.  Haley and William were divorced and she subsequently married my great grandfather John William Williamson.  Moses Green and William George Washington Green were brothers, sons of Isaac P. Green and Martha (Mattie) McMahan.  It seems likely that Eli McMahan age 48 was related to Mattie McMahan, but I have not yet been able to work out the details of how they might have been related.

At one point I believed that Laura Fritts age 35 was Laura Peters, daughter of Thomas Jefferson (Tom) Peters and Charlotte J (Sharlley) Shannon.  However, I was incorrect.  Laura E. Fritts age 35 instead was wife of Theodore Day.  They were married on 9 Jul 1891 in Loudon County.  However, they were divorced and Laura and the children took Laura's maiden name of Fritts.  So I have no connection to this family, but researching the family was important to sorting out Laura Peters.  Laura was the daughter of Martin Fritts and Matilda A. (Tillie) Pierce.

Thomas Jefferson (Tom) Peters was the son of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby M. Smith.  As such, Tom was the brother of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters.

Peters Amanda 51 wife f m1 w TN TN TN 6 children, 6 living

This is a very strange census entry.  The head of dwelling number 587 was J.C. Delozier, and there were a bunch of boarders.  Amanda Peters appeared in the list of boarders, but she was labeled "wife" rather than "boarder". However, there was no one in the household for her to be the wife of.  Also, the household was listed as being on Broadway, but many of the individual lines for the various boarders have cross outs and corrections with alternative addresses listed.  Amanda herself was listed as living on Third Avenue.

In any case, Amanda C. (Manda) Hacker age 51 was the wife of Benjamin Leach (Ben) Peters Sr. who was living on Second Avenue with five of their children.  Their son Benjamin Leach (Ben) Peters Jr. was living on Third Avenue.  Somehow or other, Manda wasn't living at home.

Kathleen Haven (Haven) Reed age 7 married Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray on 8 Jun 1919 in Loudon County.  Uncle Charlie was the son of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray and her first husband William George Washington Green.

Haven Reed was the daughter of James Monroe Reed age 48 and Hattie C. Jackson age 37.  Haven was born 31 Jan 1903, and James and Hattie were married 18 May 1904 in Loudon County.  James Baird Reed age 14 and Bessie Reed age 13 were the children of James Monroe Reed and his first wife Julia Baird.  I believe that Bessie's full name was Elizabeth Mary Reed and that she was actually 25 years old in 1910.

Omer Willie Jenkins age 4 married Lela Bray on 22 Oct 1927 in Loudon County.  Lela was the daughter of Robert Henry (Henry) Bray and Maude Elizabeth Hinds, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.  As such, Uncle Henry was the brother of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray, and Lela Bray was the first cousin of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Omer was the son of Sam Jenkins age 41 and Ora Bell Cale age 28.  Most records list Omer's name as just Omer or sometimes as Omer W.  I suspect that his name was Omer William or Omer Willie.  This census entry seems to have his name inverted.  I suspect his initial was listed as H rather then O because the enumerator thought his middle name was Homer rather than Omer.

Phillip J. (Tip) Fritts Jr. age 4 married Katie Lou Cruze on 14 Aug 1928 in Loudon County.  Katie was the daughter of Edward Marion (Ed) Cruze and Amanda A (Mandy) Williamson, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents Alexander L (Alex) Williamson and Margaret Ann (Maggie) England.  As such, Mandy was the sister of my great grandfather John William Williamson and Katie was the first cousin of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Tip was the son of Phillip J. Fritts Sr. age 38 and S. Mary Sampson.  Phillip was a widower at the time of the 1910 census, Mary having died between 1906 and 1909.
