His occupation was listed as locomotive fireman in the 1900 census. According to his son, Bruce, his primary occupation was farmer. It has been said that he was a horse trader. He also had houses built which he then rented. His death certificate lists his occupation as retired from real estate. According to relatives he had approximately seventeen rental houses. The old home place was on Bean Street in Daisy. Tennessee. I was told that he was one of the first people in Daisy to have electricity, even owning his own generator.
